Biography

"THE LATE PRIVATE S. SLATER.

Mr. and Mrs. Slater, of Gilles-street, have been notified that their second son, Private Stanley Slater, who was previously reported missing, is now reported killed. Private Slater sailed for Egypt on his 21st birthday, December 2, 1915. After remainlng there for some time he was transferred to France. Before enlisting he was employed by Messrs. Sands & McDougall, and Messrs. James Anderson & Co. Mr. and Mrs. Slater have another son fighting in France, and one wounded is Egypt." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 11 Nov 1916 (nla.gov.au)
