Pete Farrell history

Peter Thomas Farrell was born in Pyramid hill Victoria 16/9/1948. When he was 2 the family moved to Adelaide. He had 4 siblings, a half brother Darren and sisters Leanne, Cathie and Gaynor who drowned at Grange beach when she was nearly 5.
Pete joined the army when he was 18 and after finishing his training he was sent to Vietnam in 1968 when he was 19 years old. He fought in the battle of Coral and Balmoral.
He returned to Australia and after leaving the army he worked in the mining industry in Western Australia. He also had two tow trucks and worked for Barry Caddle crash repairs. He re-enlisted in the army and served for another three years. He then went back to the mining industry and worked in WA, SA, NT and Tasmania. He also worked in South America and Indonesia. He went to Curtin University and became an OC health and safety and Mines rescue officer.
He was married three times and had 4 children. He moved to Lochiel with his second wife Maureen and got involved in the community, first as a JP servicing the local community and later when he moved back to Adelaide he volunteered at the West Torrens council . He joined the Lochiel CFS on 2004 and became captain in 2011. He remained in this role until he stepped down in 2024.
His wife Maureen passed away in 2019 and later that year he reconnected with a friend from his teenage years. Pete and Kathy married two years later. After 5 short years together Pete passed away on 5/10/2024 of bile duct cancer.
Pete had a very close relationship with his sister Cathie ( Bubs) and his grandson Sam.
Pete unfortunately suffer from PTSD after his time in Vietnam and struggled with it most of his life.
