Son of Albert Thompson Oliver and Mary Oliver nee Stacey of Main Street, Bacchus Marsh, Victoria.

Previously served in the Royal Australian Navy for about three years.

Brother of Harrie Stacey Oliver who returned to Australia on 8 June 1919 having served with the 2nd Light Railway Operating Company

On 30 October 1918 Edward married Miriam Polly Hyman in the Registry Office, West Ham, England. Sayer Alfred Hall officiated.

Commenced return to Australia on 20 November 1919 aboard HT Orsova disembarking on 2 January 1920

Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal

He returned to England and re-enlisted in the Royal Army Orsnance Corp on 29 June 1921 and was,allotted number 7580846

In early 1922 Edward was living in Whitegatem Road, Sounthend-on-Sea, Essex, England
