Arthur Roy Batley was engaged to my Nanna, Constance May Day, before WW1. He sadly was killed in action Pozieres France 29 July 1916 aged 22 years.
The engagement ring was engraved with their initials ABCD.
My Nanna, Constance, went on to marry John George Powell November 24th 1920.
