Percy enlisted on the same day as old scholars from his school Scotch College Melbourne Keith McIlwraith and Reg Brownell - 17th August 1914 at Prahran, Melbourne. All 3 men joined the Public Schools Company of the 5th Battalion and all 3 tragically died on the same day at Gallipoli.
