Stephen Richard BETHERAS was born in Emmaville, New South Wales in 1894

His parents were Stephen Robert BETHERAS & Minnie Georgina LOVE

He enlisted in Cairns, Queensland on 21st October, 1916 and embarked with the 4th Pioneer Battalion from Sydney on the HMAT Beltana on 25th November, 1916

He died from accidental burns to his face & body on 29th March, 1918 and is buried in the Outtersteene Communal Cemetery Extension, Plot II, Row C, grave 46 - his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial
