My Dad
My dad was very proud of his service in the army. He didn’t talk much about his time in Vietnam. He grew up in Toowoomba. His names sake, Uncle Jim, has served with 2/24th infantry battion WW2. He was proud of his service in Vietnam. He helped to build the infrastructure when not on duty as a medical clerk. He looks so young in the pictures. He stayed on with the army when the unit returned and was posted to Townsville. He liked the Redgum song. We played it at his funeral. He always remained military and would rattle off his rank and number at any given time. He attended some reunions. I have his medals and his “Radar” mug.
