From the Pre-war years - 1906

"J. M. D'ALPUGET.

His full name is Jacques Montague d'Alpuget, his birthplace is Albury, and he is 19, years of age. The first team of any importance the present full-back of Eastern Suburbs first grade 15 played for were the second Fitzroy, of whom he was captain. At sixteen he played with Eastern Suburbs second; in 1904 he was made first emergency for the senior team, and a vacancy occurring towards the end of that season, he played as centre three-quarter, a position he held throughout 1905. One would think to see how well d'Alpuget carries himself at full-back that he had occupied the position throughout the whole of his career, whereas it is only this year that he was there tried for the first time, and so well has he defended that there were not a few who would have liked to have seen him in a representative team. That is, however, an honour which will come along alright, provided, of course, D'Alpuget keeps up his present form." - from the Sydney Mail 12 Sep 1906 (nla.gov.au)
