Obituary
One of Australia's best - known doctor-soldiers, Dr. Charles Wason Nye, died at the Heidelberg General Hospital, in Melbourne, last month.
Dr. Nye, who had a distinguisheid war record, was employed with the Repatriation Department Central Office.
At the time of his death he was engaged in a survey of the diseases suffered by Australian ex - servicemen who were prisoners of war in the South West Pacific Area.
During World War II, he served with the Royal Australian Medical Corps in the Middle East, New Guinea and Japan.
He served in Korea in 1952 and at the time of his discharge held the rank of brigadier.
