Son of George Holmes De Vis and Adelaide (Ada) De Vis nee Goodwin of Davis Street, Charters Towers, QLD later of Rosemount Street, Windsor, Brisbane, QLD.
Brother of Charles De Vis MM who returned to Australia on 20 August 1919 having served with the 26th Battalion; Frederick Selwyn De Vis who returned to Australia on 26 August 1919 served with the 49th Battalion and Herbert Walter De Vis who returned to Australia on 13 February 1918 having served with the 49th Battalion.
