"LATE PTE. T. F. SHEPHARD.
CARRIETON, October 12.— The late Pte. T. F. Shephard, who died at Maitland, in South Africa, on his way to the front, was the oldest son of Mr. T. E. Shephard, of Carrieton. He was educated at the Carrieton Public School, and was 20 years of age at the time of his death. Much regret was expressed locally when the news of his death was received." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 21 Oct 1916 (nla.gov.au)
