Reginald Ernest Martin was born in South Yarra to Ernest and Barbara Martin. His father was a well known tailor in Melbourne and Reg was working with him when he enlisted in the First AIF on 10/10/1916. He was allotted to the 3rd Division Army Service Corps and reached the rank of Sergeant. He returned to Australia on 12/5/1919. He married Margaret (Maggie) and lived in Murrumbeena. He did not return to tailoring as his father had died while he was overseas.He worked for the PMG as a technician until his retirement. During the 2nd War he enlisted and took a training role at Puckerpunyal camp until the PMG asked him to return to them.
