Private Noel Albert Francis Hale (Service No:VX87110) initially served in the ACMF (Private; Service No:V151606) from 27 January to 17 June 1942 with 3 MD Recruit Camp and was at Wangaratta on 18 June 1942 when he enlisted in the AIF. Private Hale was attached to 7 CCS and 5 Australian Army Recruiting Depot (AARD) Camp Cable QLD before posting to 2nd/3rd Field Ambulance AAMC. Private Hale served in Borneo (Morotai and Labuan) from 23 April 1945 to 16 October 1945 and was attached to 2nd/3rd Field Ambulance AAMC at Discharge on 23 October 1945.
Noel was born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1923 to Albert Thomas Hale (b1891 in Melbourne, Victoria) and Ivy Florence Turner (b1897 in Westbury, Tasmania). Albert was a Driver when he and Ivy married in 1922 in Melbourne, where they settled and raised their family and Albert worked as a Wood Machinist and Sawyer. Ivy died in 1941.
Noel worked in Melbourne as a Labourer prior to enlisting in the Army, returning to Melbourne following Discharge and working there as a Railway Employee. In 1951 in Melbourne he married Elizabeth (Betty) Jean Chapman (b1928 in Yarrawonga, Victoria) - Betty was working in Melbourne as a Typist. Noel and Betty settled in Melbourne, where they raised their son and Noel worked as a Carpenter. Following Betty's death in 1973, Noel remarried in abt 1975 and he and Dorothy Joan (aka Joan) lived in Dromana and Melbourne where Noel worked as a Driver and Carpenter. Noel died in 1999 and Joan in 2018.
