Lieutenant Brian Francis James (V93774) initially enlisted in the ACMF on 8 January 1940 and was attached to 16th Field Ambulance (Cavalry Division) AAMC. On 18 July 1941 he enlisted in the RANVR as a Sub Lieutenant (HMAS Lonsdale) and was appointed Lieutenant (SP) on 5 July 1943. Lieutenant James was attached to 2 RAAF Acot Vale on 30 July 1947 when his appointment was terminated.

Born in 1918 in Maryborough Victoria, Brian was the youngest of two children of Melville Charles James (b1877 in Launceston, Tasmania) and Cecile Edith Kingston Vickery (b1876 in Benalla, Victoria). Melville (a Clergyman) and Cecile married in 1905 in Ararat, Victoria and lived in Merino, Maryborough, Ballarat and Melbourne as Rev James progressed from Clergyman to Archdeacon, to Canon in Ballarat  and Bishop of St Arnaud in Melbourne.

Brian was a School Master in Melbourne, Victoria when he enlisted in 1940. He lived in Melbourne, Victoria where he was an Actor - Brian died in 2009 following a fall.
