Henry John CLAPHAM was born in Sunbury, Victoria in 1888.

He trained as a blacksmith and in 1910 joined the Victorian Police Force stationed at Russell Street, Melbourne.

Henry married Emma Ada Clapham in 1910 and joined the AIF on 2/5/1918.

He was allotted to the Australian Flying Corps as an Air Mechanic and left Australia aboard the HMAT Zealandic on 5/10/1918.

He arrived in the UK after the armistice and returned to Australia on 16/6/1919 and was discharged on 26/7/1919.

He returned to police duties and was stationed at Elsternwick. Unfortunately he was involved in the Police Strike in November 1923 and was dismissed from the Police Service.

Henry died at Cheltenham in 1964 aged 75years.
