Son of Mrs Elizabeth Long, 'Oolbun', Emos Parade,Cronulla Beach, New South Wales
Enlisted with 9th Battalion, Townsville, Queensland. Served later with the Cycle Corps in France. Billeted after trench fever with French family who had been evacuated to Belgium (approx. 80 km from their French home). Before the war he worked night shift as a supervisor at the Townsville Meat Works. After the war as a Department Manager, Farmer & Co., George Street, Sydney. Married Beatrice Matilda Tymms at Haberfield Presbyterian Church, Dalhousie Street, Haberfield, New South Wales on 25 October 1925 and had one son, Colin born 15 January 1928.
