Arrived in Australia aged 20 years. Son of Mary Ann Marwick, Rosevillas, Bingham Road, Radcliffe-on-Trent, Nottingham, England formerly of Lady Bay, Road, West Bridgrford, Manchester, England

Medals: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

Prior to enlisting he was serving on board the Steam Ship La Blanca with the rank of Able Seaman where he was training as a Gunner

He was christened at St Hilda's Church, South Shields on 1st April 1894. He was the son of the late William Clouston Marwick a ships master, and Mary Ann Marwick of Rose Villas, Bingham Road, Radcliffe-on- Trent Nottinghamshire. His parents were married in 1881 in South Shields, and they had 6 children one of whom sadly died in infancy His father died on 7th December 1900. In the 1911 census he is shown as 17 years, single and a steward, a crew member on board vessel 'Marere' a passenger steamer , based in London. His last address in Nottingham was 12 Lady Bay Road, West Bridgford.

Stephen Watson Marwick, “B” Company 2nd Battalion Australian Imperial Force, was killed in action on 27th June 1915. He was previously wounded on 1st May 1915, a serious chest wound, he had only rejoined his unit the previous day.

His death notice published on 7th August 1915 in the Nottingham Evening Post :-

“MARWICK. - Killed in action, June 27th, Private Stephen Watson, aged 21 years, of the Australian Imperial Forces, beloved youngest son of Mrs. Marwick, 12, Lady Bay Road Road, West Bridgford, Notts., and the late Captain William Clonston Marwick, of South Shields.”

His photograph was published on 23rd August 1915 in the Nottingham Evening Post.
