Private William Eld Stuart (Service No:T50861) enlisted in the ACMF on 16 January 1942. William was a Labourer in North Motton when he enlisted - the only child of Christian Patrick Stuart (b1868 in North Motton, Tasmania) and Jane Eld (b1881 in Devonport, Tasmania). Christian (a Farmer) and Jane married in 1910 in North Motton and William was born that year. Following Christian's death in 1921, Jane and William lived in North Motton, where William worked as a Labourer.
In 1940 William married Jean Winifred Heazlewood (b1915 in North Motton, Tasmania) and the couple settled in North Motton where William worked as a Labourer and from the early 1950's as a Farmer. William died in 1997 and Jean in 1999.
