25 Mar 1942:	Enlisted Australian Military Forces (WW2) , Private, V370090, Volunteer Defence Corps (VIC), It would appear that naughty little Gordon made a mistake when recording his dat of birth. He wrote down 23rd March 1924, when his actual DOB is 23rd March 1925.....mmmmm So on the 25th March 1942 at the age of 17, Gordon Oscar Schmidt enlisted in the Volunteer Defence Corps, Home Guard.
26 Mar 1942:	Discharged Australian Military Forces (WW2) , Private, V370090, Volunteer Defence Corps (VIC), It would seem as though the Army were wise to Gordon's error in recording his DOB, as the are no further Service Records other than the day of enlistment.
