Alan Arthur Rainbow (Service No:T34686) presented for enlistment with the ACMF on 17 May 1942 and as a result of bones broken in childhood, was declared Medically Unfit.

Born in 1916 at Bradshaw's Creek in Tasmania, Alan was the third of eight children of Reuben Henry James Rainbow (b1889 at Ringarooma, Tasmania) and Maud Mary Lavinia Wood (b1893 at Ringarooma, Tasmania). Reuben (a Wood Carter) and Maud married in 1911 at Garibaldi, Tasmania and lived in Pioneer, Bradshaw's Creek and Ringarooma where Reuben was a Wood Carter and Farmer.

Alan was a Farm Hand working for his father in 1942 when he presented for service with the ACMF. In 1944 Alan married Thelma Grace Clark (b1921 in Launceston, Tasmania) - Thelma was working in Launceston as a Shop Assistant. Alan and Thelma settled at Ringarooma where they raised their family and Alan was a Farmer. Alan died in 1988 and Thelma in 2013.
