Son of Reuben Brett Vincent and Mary Vincent nee White of Wangaratta, Victoria. Brother of Arthur James Vincent who was killed in action at Messines on 8 June 1917 and has no known grave. His name appears on Panel 25 of Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres.

Commenced return to Australia on 11 December 1918 aboard HT Saxon disembarking on 30 January 1919
