FUNERAL. MR. Horace J. Armstrong.
On Monday last, death laid a heavy hand on a returned member of the 28th Battalion and a well known resident of these districts, in the person of Mr. Horace Joseph Armstrong who passed away in Perth, succumbing to a war disability. Mr. Armstrong was in his 29th year and was well and favourably known throughout the Busselton district, particularly around Jarrahwood where he had been stationed since his return from active service.
He had a pleasant disposition which had made for him many friends and his early death will be the cause of regret of many. The funeral took place on Tuesday morning from the private mortuary of Messrs. Bowra and O'Dea, the interment being carried out in the Roman Catholic cemetery, Karrakatta.
A large number of relatives were present to witness the last rites, including Mrs. Enid B Savage (sister Jarrahwood), Mr. Bert H. V. Armstrong (brother, Bunbury). Mrs. Kent (sister-in-law). Mr. D. GIeeson (uncle. Victoria Park).
Friends present included Mrs. W. Cochrane (aunt), Subiaco; Mr. A. Cochrane (cousin), Subiaco, Mr. and Mrs. A. Gleeson (cousins), West Subiaco; Mrs. and Miss Barrett, West Leederville; Miss Jordan, West Guildford; Miss Sullivan, Busselton; Mrs. Forrest, East Perth; Mrs. Lawrence, Busselton; Mrs. And Miss McMillen, West Perth; Mrs. Moran, Leederville, Miss Davis, Leederville; Mr. and Mrs. Pascal, Perth.
A large number of floral tributes were laid upon the grave expressive of the sorrow felt by the many relatives and friends.
