Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of Charles and Margaret Ann RABLIN, Perkins Street, Townsville, Queensland.

RABLIN.—In sad and loving memory of our dear son, No. 566, Gunner William James Rablin, 9th of the 12th Machine Gun Section, who was killed in action on the 13th October, 1917, at Passchendaele Ridge, Ypres.

A hero he fought,
A hero he fell, He was only a lad; But played his part well. The shock was great, the blow severe,
To part with one we love so dear. It's sad but true we wonder why,
The good are always first to die. They who loved you best, missed you most.

(Inserted by his sorrowing mother and father, brothers and sisters, Mr and Mrs C. Rablin, and family, Townsville.)

RABLIN.—In sad and loving memory of our dear cousin and nephew, Gunner William James Rablin, who was killed in action on the 13th of October, 1917 (Somewhere in France),
aged 22.

Under the flag with the five starred cross,
The pride of the southern sea.
He laid down his life in the deadly strife,
To keep Australia free.

(Inserted by his sorrowing aunts and uncles and cousins, J., J. H., N., and H. Crow and families.)
