The Reverend Charles Clifford Dugan MA
Twenty-six years of age, Maggie Christina ’Chrissie’ Fenton, at the Ivanhoe Methodist Church was, on 16 April 1912, married to the Rev. Charles Clifford Dugan, M.A., [1878-1946] of the Methodist Church, Zeehan, only son of Mr and Mrs Patrick Benedictus Dugan, of Trevallyn, Tasmania.
Chrissie Fenton [1886-1967], second daughter of Mr and Mrs Abraham Richard Fenton, of Park Street, Ivanhoe, supported her husband, Reverend Charles Dugan, a Queen’s College, Melbourne, Master of Arts and Bachelor of Divinity graduate, as well as a member of the faculty of the Melbourne College of Divinity.
Beginning his ministry at South Preston, in 1907, during 1909-1911 he served the congregation of the Ivanhoe Uniting Church. Following their marriage, the couple served, for 30 years, at many Victorian, as well as Tasmanian Methodist churches. Retiring, in 1936, Charles became editor of the Methodist Connexional paper, ‘The Spectator’, having written many pieces over the years,
under his own name as well as O’Phimerty.
The couple shared two children - Dennis together with Margaret Christina [1919-1979]. Cremated at the Springvale Crematorium, Victoria, Charles' ashes were scattered at the cemetery
