Son of Michael and Catharine MALONE

PRIVATE J. H. MALONE.
Private J. H. Malone, son or Mr. M. Malone of Hamilton Victoria, was 
killed in action in France on Sept. 26th, 1917. He sailed from Australia with the 5th Reinforcements, 57th Battalion, which left here on September 25th, 1916, and had been in France since January. For some time he was acting as stretcher-bearer, but was with the Infantry when a shell hit the trench killing him and two companions. Writing to Private Malone's relatives, one of his officers said: ''We have lost one of the bravest and best soldiers in the battalion, and a companion also writes, in simple words:
he was all a good mate could be to one, and I feel I must write and tell you how I appreciated Jack, and how I miss him. Private Malone was educated at St. Mary's School, Hamilton. R.I.P.
