Son of Charles KAY and Elanor G (Ellen) nee BRADLEY; husband of Norah E. Kay, of Ayr, Queensland.
While occupying the position known as Toms Cut the 15th was subject to intense bombing. On the morning of the 9th, Walter was killed instantly by a German shell that landed directly on Toms Cut.
