Lance Corporal Catherine Anne Mibus (nee Bahlinger; Service No:NF462700) enlisted in the AWAS on 6 July 1943 as a Private attached to 2 AWAS Training Depot - Storekeeper. Private Bahlinger served with 2 Ordnance Store Coy and 1 Australian Return Stores Depot (RSD). Promoted in 1945 (and married) Lance Corporal Mibus was attached to 1 Australian Return Stores Depot (RSD) at Discharge on 8 November 1945. Sibling Margaret (Private; Service No:NF462697) also served in the AWAS.
Born in Leeton, NSW in 1919, Molly was second of three children of Daniel Ferdinand Arthur Bahlinger (b1885 in Gardsthau, Germany) and Lucy Elizabeth O'Brien (b1886 in Glasgow, Scotland). Daniel (a Farmer in Germany) and Lucy (a Dressmaker in Scotland) married in 1915 in Narranderra, NSW. They settled in Leeton where Daniel was a Farmer and Labourer until the late 1930s when the family moved to Sydney. Following Daniel's retirement in the late 1940s, he and Lucy moved to Portland, Victoria.
Molly was working as a Sales Assistant for Dymock's Books in Sydney when she enlisted in the AWAS. In 1945 Molly married Leonard (Len) Mibus (b1915 in Hamilton, Victoria) - Len was serving in the AIF (Service No:VX89312). Molly and Len settled in Portland, Victoria where Len was a Contractor. Molly died in 1987 and Len in 2004.
