Death of Miss BYRNE
The death occurred at St. Vincent's Hospital, Melbourne, on Friday, of Miss Alice Maud Byrne. Miss Byrne, who distinguished herself as a war nurse, underwent her training at St.Vincent's Hospital, and in 1915 left Australia to become attached to the No. 2 Australian General Hospital. She served at Cairo and in France, and was invalided home in 1917. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Byrne, Ellerslie, Dockers' Plains, and leaves one brother, John (Wangaratta),and four sisters/ Sister Faustine (Chile), Katharyna (Mrs. D. J. Connell (Wangaratta), Rev. Mother Anthony (Albert Park), and Mynie (Mrs. J.T. O'Callaghan, Maryborough). The funeral took place at the Wangaratta cemetery.
