Biography contributed by Paul Trevor

Private Andrew Riddell stated on his Attestation Paperwork when he enlisted for the First World War that he had previously served with the 4th Queensland Imperial Bushmen during the Boer War for a period of one year and six months.

Evidence could not be found to support this claim of previous military service, though his brother 135 Private Charles Henry Riddell, who is stated as his next of kin, did serve with the 4th Queensland Imperial Bushmen during this stated period.
