Private Leslie Ernest Royal (Service No:V216081) served in the ACMF as a Private from 7 March 1942 to 20 September 1945. Graded as Carpenter, Private Royal was attached to No 2 Australian Base Ordnance Depot (BOD), 11 Parks and Works Coy Oaklands NSW, 13 Maintenance Platoon and General Details Depot.
Les was born in Carlton, Melbourne, Victoria in 1907, the first child of May Claudine Royal (b1891 in Preston, Victoria). In 1914 in Melbourne, May married Joshua Moxin Turner (b1893 in Lilydale, Victoria). Joshua (a Labourer) and May lived in Ringwood and Camberwell.
Les was a Labourer in Mornington, Victoria in 1925 when he married Dorothy Myrtle Garlick (b1902 at Snapper Point, Mornington, Victoria). Les and Dorothy settled in the Mornington Peninsula region (Frankston, Hastings and Pearcedale), where they raised their family and Les was a Carpenter. Dorothy died in 1990 and Les in 2008.
