Stanley Raymond Howard

Stanley Raymond born 1 July 1921. Stan joined the Air Force in 1942 and trained as a navigator. He was assigned to the dive bombers with the 25th Squadron and posted to various bases in Victoria, Western Australia and NSW on coastal patrol and bombing and gunnery practice. He married Joan Marion Dawes in 1946. They had one daughter Margaret Janet and one son Kim Raymond. They moved to live in Cooma, NSW in 1953 where Stan worked on the Snowy Mountains Scheme and in 1970 with the Snowy Mountain Engineering Corporation. Stan worked on many engineering projects overseas including Cimanuk in Bandung, Indonesia, and the Trengganu Hydro Project in Malaysia. Stan and Joan remained in Cooma during their retirement. Joan died on 28.1.2013 and Stan died in Cooma, NSW on 7 July 2018 aged 97 years

Stanley Raymond Howard

Stanley Raymond born in Perth, WA on 1 July 1921.  His parents were William James Howard from Echuca, Victoria and Fanny Howard (nee Pike) from Araluen, NSW.  He had 4 sisters Violet, Mildred, Olive and Sylvia and 3 brothers William, Frank and Ronald. 

Stan had been working as a baker at his father William's bakery in Perth, WA when he joined the Air Force in 1942 and trained as a navigator. 

He was assigned to the dive bombers with the 25th Squadron and posted to various bases in Victoria, Western Australia and NSW on coastal patrol and bombing and gunnery practice. 

After the War Stan went back to finish high school and then went on to University to study Civil Engineering.  In 1946, Stan married Joan Marion Dawes.  Stan and Joan had one daughter Margaret Janet and one son Kim Raymond.

The family moved to live in Cooma, NSW in 1953 where Stan worked on the Snowy Mountains Scheme.  Some projects he was involved in were the Adaminaby town move, the Cooma Airport and Jindabyne Dam.  In 1970, he joined the Snowy Mountain Engineering Corporation. Stan worked on many engineering projects overseas including Cimanuk in Bandung, Indonesia, and the Trengganu Hydro Project in Malaysia. 

Stan and Joan remained in Cooma during their retirement.  Joan died on 28 January 2013 and Stan died ion 7 July 2018 aged 97 years.
