Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
Leslie was the son of Edward Lawrence Murphy and Elizabeth Murphy, of Cootamundra, New South Wales. He was the brother of 691 Pte. Henry Lawrence Murphy 49th Battalion AIF who had been killed in action at Mouquet Farm in France on 4 September 1916, aged 24. Also, brother to Edward Michael Murphy who returned.
Leslie was reported as killed during the Battle of Polygon Wood. His remains were found during 1921 in Belgium, along with a damaged identity disc which resulted in his burial at the New Irish Farm Cemetery at Ypres, Belgium.
