Corporal Margaret Joyce Bond (Service No:110426) enlisted in the WAAF on 9 June 1943 at No 1 Recruiting Centre Melbourne as an Aircraftwoman - mustered as Pay Clerk - and was described in her Attestation Papers (NAA) as 'A good type of lass .... good knowledge of office routine. Sound on bookkeeping'. Promoted to Corporal (remustered as Clerk Medical) in 1944 she was attached to No 1 WAAF Depot before posting to Air Force HQ. Corporal Bond was attached to Air Force HQ at Discharge on 18 January 1946.

Born in Dimboola, Victoria in 1924, Joyce was youngest of two children of William (Bill) Henry Bond (b1890 in Dimboola, Victoria) and Margaret (Maggie) Alicia Haines (b1890 in Dimboola, Victoria). Bill was a Fruiterer/Storekeeper in Dimboola when he enlisted in WWI (Driver; Service No:3299) and he and Maggie married in 1921 in Garang Garung, Victoria. They lived in Dimboola and Antwerp via Dimboola where they raised their family and Bill was a Storekeeper.

Joyce started work in the family store in Antwerp, worked in Dimboola as a Switchboard Attendant and was a Bank Clerk with the National Bank of Australasia when she enlisted in the WAAF. In 1948 in Dimboola Joyce married Thomas (Tom) Gilbert Roberts (b1924 in Warracknabeal, Victoria) - Tom was a Mechanic in Portland and had served in the ACMF. Joyce and Tom lived in Jeparit and Chiltern where they raised their family and Tom was a Farmer before moving to Geelong in the 1960s where Tom was a Railways Employee. Joyce died in 2015 and Tom in 2022.
