Warrant Officer John Arthur Kaufmann (Service No:A3765) enlisted in the RAAF on 23 April 1934. He was attached to Air Force HQ when he was Discharged on 8 June 1955. WO Kaufmann was one of six siblings who served in WWII.

Born in 1913 at Korumburra in Gippsland Victoria, John was the second of eight children of Henry Kaufmann (b1884 in Box Hill, Victoria) and Mary Ann May Pigdon (b1892 at Queenscliff, Victoria). Henry was a Farmer when he enlisted for the Boer War (Trooper; Service No:867) and a Clerk in 1911 when he and Mary married in Queenscliff, Victoria. Henry enlisted in WWI (Captain) and remained in the Army. He was a Major when he died in 1944.

John was in the RAAF in 1936 when he married Rose Mary Orme (b1918 in Perth, WA). Following his Discharge in 1955, John and Rose settled in Melbourne where John was a Storeman. Rose died in 1984 and John in 1989.
