Edward Rossborough Melbourne JENKINS was born on 25th December, 1915 in Melbourne, Victoria

His parents were Alfred Thomas JENKINS and Marguerite Emma PARSONS

Edward first joined the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) as a cadet Midshipman on 1st January 1929 and his appointment was terminated on 17th December, 1930 - he was on the ship Cerberus.

He enlisted in Paddington, Sydney on 25th June 1941 with the Australian Army - taken on strength from the General Details Depot, Sydney - he left on the ship Johan Van Oldenbernevelt from Sydney to Singapore on 29th July 1941 - he was  a Lance Corporal with the 2/30 Australian Infantry Battalion.

Edward was taken Prisoner of War and died of illness (Beri Beri) on 22nd September, 1943 at Doi Tanbaya - he is buried in Thanbyuzayat Cemetery in Burma - he is also honoured on the Australian War Memorial & the Roll of Honour in Mosman, NSW
