“Mr. Fred ('Scobie') McKee, of Canning Road, East Fremantle, who died on Saturday, was well-known in boxing and football circles at Fremantle. During the last war he served with the Royal Australian Navy and was prominent in the ring.
Afterwards he figured in a memorable encounter with Frank Graham, then heavyweight champion of W.A. Graham won the contest which took place in King's Theatre, Fremantle. For several seasons Mr. McKee was a trainer for the East Fremantle Football Club and in recognition of his services was made a life member.
In recent years he worked in wool stores and for a period was organiser of the Fremantle section of the Shop Assistants' Union.”
