Petty Officer Charles Frederick Graham (Service No:19079) enlisted in the RAN as an Ordinary Seaman on 10 August 1928 on board HMAS Cerberus. Promoted to Able Seaman on 29 March 1930 and Leading Seaman on 13 December 1932, his service included HMAs Albatross, and as Petty Officer, was attached to HMAS Cessnock at Discharge on 21 May 1946. He was one of four siblings (Alfred, Bill and Herbert) who served in WWII.
Born in Sale, Victoria in 1909, Charles was eldest of seven children of William Frederick Graham (b1882 in Heyfield, Victoria) and Anne Jane Davis (b1886 in Toombon, Victoria). William (a Farmer in Briagolong) and Anne married in 1909 in Melbourne and settled in Briagolong via Maffra, where they raised their family and William was a Farmer.
Charles worked as a Farm Hand for his father before enlisting in the Navy in 1928. In 1933 in Melbourne he married Grace Amelia Spencer (b1914 in Melbourne, Victoria). Grace lived in Melbourne following marriage, moving to Briagolong in the early 1940s. Following Charles' Discharge, he and Grace settled in Briagolong, where they raised their family and Charles was a Proprietor. Charles died in 1997 and Grace in 1998.
