Able Seaman John McIllop Archibald (Service No:PM4856) enlisted in the RAN on 12 August 1942. He served on HMAS Cerberus, Kanimbla and Westralia and was an Able Seaman attached to HMAS Cerberus when he was Discharged on 5 November 1945. He had previously served in the Australian Army (Private; Service No:VX4566) from 1 December 1939 to 3 August 1942 and was attached to AASC 6 Divion when he Discharged to enlist in the RAN.

Born in 1918 in Scotland, Jock was a Labourer in Frankston, Victoria when he enlisted in 1939. In 1942 Jock married Agnes (Tubba) Jean Shout (b1920 in Dandenong, Victoria). Jock and Tubba settled in Frankston where Jock worked as a Labourer and House Painter. Jock died in 1994 and Tubba in 2011.
