Chief Petty Officer Telegraphist Olive Esther Brayshaw WR/55.
Olive Brayshaw was born in Adaminaby in the NSW Alps in 1904 and moved to Sydney as a young adult where she was employed as a clerk. She enrolled in the WRANS in January 1942 and was attested in October of that year. A mature women, Olive was promoted to Leading Telegraphist in October 1942, to Petty Officer in September 1943 and to Chief Petty Officer in October 1945. She discharged from the WARNS on the 8th of April 1946.
Post War Olive moved to Urana in the Riverina where she worked as a saleswoman. In 1952 she married Thomas Silver in Wagga Wagga NSW. Thomas had served in the RAAF as a Leading Aircraftsman. The couple lived in Wagga Wagga where Joseph worked as a grocer.
Olive Esther Silver (nee Brayshaw) passed away on the 11th of June 1986 and is buried in the Lake Albert Cemetery in Wagga.
