2 Mar 1915: Enlisted AIF WW1, Private, 538, 28th Infantry Battalion, Place of enlistment - Perth, Western Australia
29 Jun 1915: Embarked AIF WW1, Private, 538, 28th Infantry Battalion, Embarked on HMAT 'A11' Ascanius from Fremantle on 29th June 1915 disembarking Egypt. Embarked on Ivernia on 4th September 1916 for Gallipoli.
10 Jan 1916: Embarked AIF WW1, Private, 538, 28th Infantry Battalion, Embarked from Mudros, Greece disembarking Alexandria Egypt on 10th January 1916. Embarked to Marseilles, France disembarking 21st March 1916 to join British Expeditionary Force.
29 Jul 1916: Imprisoned Was wounded in upper left thigh and captured at Pozieres, France on 29 July 1916. He was held as a POW in Germany, St Velu then Lazarett Le Cateau then Munster. Repatriated to Switzerland on 12 December 1916, Hotel Buthod, Chateau D'Oex and La Soldadelle, Chateau D'Oex. Repatriated to England on 14 September 1917.
8 Apr 1918: Embarked AIF WW1, Private, 28th Infantry Battalion, Embarked on Dunluce Castle from England on 8th April 1918, disembarking Australia on 18th July 1918,
29 Apr 1919: Discharged AIF WW1, Private, 538, 28th Infantry Battalion
