Died on this date - 4th January........Private Joseph Patrick Lynch was born at Adelaide, South Australia. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 3rd May, 1916 as a 43 year old, single, Fitter from Lake Way, Western Australia (there are discrepancies with his age & marital status).

Private Lynch arrived in England on 12th December, 1916 with 4th Reinforcements of 44th Battalion. He was sent sick to Fargo Military Hospital, Wiltshire on 30th December, 1916 with Bronchitis & discharged the same day.

Private Lynch was re-admitted & reported as seriously ill with Broncho Pneumonia on 3rd January, 1917. He died at 1.45 p.m. on 4th January, 1917 at Fargo Military Hospital, Wiltshire from Broncho Pneumonia.

Private Lynch was buried in Durrington Cemetery, Wiltshire where 140 other Australian WW1 Soldiers are buried.
