Ted was the seventh of ten children of Albert (Fred) Adolphus Frederick Ribe (b1846 in Berlin, Germany) and Esther O'Brien (b1853 in Geelong, Victoria). Fred (a Farmer) and Esther married in 1874 in Stawell, Victoria where they raised their family. By 1900 Fred and Esther were living in Jandacot, WA where Fred was a Farmer.
Ted worked as a Station Hand on Gabyon Station in Mt Magnet WA and served with the British Navy as a Merchant Seaman in WWI. In 1922 he returned to Fremantle WA as a Seaman on board the Orsova and worked as a Labourer at the Lion Mill in Swan WA.
In 1928 Ted married Miriam (Myra Dyson (nee Thompson; b1890 in Melbourne, Victoria) in Perth WA. Ted worked as a Carpenter and in 1942 enlisted in the RAN (Able Seaman; Service No:F/V96). He was attached to HMAS Leeuwin when he was Discharged in 1944.
Ted and Myra were Licensees of the London Hotel in Albany WA, until 1945 when Ted passed the Licence to Myra. The couple were Divorced in 1948 in Perth, WA and Ted settled in Perth where he worked as a Cleaner. Ted died in 1956 and Myra in 1977.
