Son of Emile Victorin Varcin and Maria Varcin nee Clappier of Wallumbilla, QLD. Emile was Naturalised in February 1913.

Brother of Felix Celestin Varcin who returned to Australia on 5 August 1919 having served with the 15th Filed Company Engineers and Joseph Lucin Varcin MM who return to Australia on 5 February 1919 having served with the 9th Battalion.
