Charles Nettleton STRUTT was born on 21st September, 1884 at 107 Powlett Street, East Melbourne

His parents were Samuel Shippam STRUTT and Mary Ann NETTLETON who married in Victoria in 1883

He had previous service with the Junior Cadets at Scotch College in Melbourne & then went to Howard Smith & Coy. Office & later went to Queensland to learn wool classing.

He enlisted in Melbourne on 17th August, 1914 as a Private and was promoted to Lance Corporal on the same day and embarked with the 6th Infantry Battalion, B Company on the HMAT Hororata on 19th October, 1914

Charles was Killed in Action at Cape Helles, Gallipoli on 8th May, 1915  & has no known grave

His name is memorialised on the Helles Memorial in Gallipoli,  & the Australian War Memorial - he was awarded the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal & the Victory Medal.
