Son of Mrs. E B STACY, Alfred Street, York, Western Australia.
Prior to the war, Alan worked as a pharmaceutical delivery boy, before enlisting in the Royal Australian Navy in 1943.
He completed his training at the Flinders naval base, and was posted to Darwin.
There, he supported naval operations that helped defend Australia’s north during the War.
Speaking of his time in the Navy, Alan said he enjoyed the friends he made and the mateship during his service.
After the war, Alan moved to York where he ran the town newsagency for 30 years.
He married his wife Beryl in 1948. The couple went on to have 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Beryl sadly passed away in 2017.
