Leonard Ivan Tucker was born on June 27, 1895, in Tea Tree Gully, South Australia, Australia, to Mrs. Mary Tucker and Richard Tucker. He had a sister called Elsie May Tucker, a brother named Richard Henry Tucker, and a brother named Arthur James Tucker. He was also married to Mary Frances Macghey. Leonard worked as a labourer. Leonard Ivan Tucker enlisted in the military on January 2, 1916, at the age of 21. His height was 5 feet 7 1/4 inches, his weight was 128 pounds, his chest measurement was 33 35 7/2 inches, his eyes were blue, his hair was brown, and his religion was Roman Catholic. His last unit was the 32nd Infantry Battalion, and his embarkation ship and date was HMAT Ballarat A70 on August 12, 1916.
Leonard reached his unit, the 32nd Battalion, in November 1916. He was twice convicted of desertion while near the front line, for acts first on 25 September 1917 when his unit was near Polygon Wood and then on 7 August 1918 when his unit was near Amiens.
He left England to return to Australia on August 22, 1919 and got into further trouble in South Africa on the way home. H died on December 18, 1970, at the age of 75, in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. He was buried in Centennial Park Cemetery, Pasadena, Mitcham City, South Australia, Australia.
