James was born on 8.1.1921, the son of James Joseph Rose and Rosalie Rose nee Hackett who had married in 1920.

On 16.2.1952 James died at the Repatriation Hospital, Heidelberg after a short illness (appendicitis). He is remembered at Springvale Botanical Cemetery.
