Able Seaman Clifford Charles Stephens (Service No:W/1645) enlisted in the RAN on 22 July 1940. He served on HMAS Cerberus, Napier, Quiberon, and Hobart and was attached to HMAS Lonsdale when he was Discharged on 24 December 1945.
Born in 1922 in Melbourne Victoria, Cliff was the fifth of six children of Albert Denithorn Stephens (b1890 in Tower Hill, Victoria) and Winifred Hope McKay (b1893 in Melbourne, Victoria). Albert (an Assembler) and Winifred married in 1910 in Melbourne, Victoria where they settled and raised their family and Albert was a Painter and Decorator.
Cliff worked as a Painter and Decorator in Melbourne, and in 1944 married Norma Myrtle Dean (b1922 in Melbourne, Victoria) - Norma was a Machinist. Cliff and Norma settled in Melbourne where Cliff worked as a Sprayer and Enamel Dipper. They Divorced and Cliff remarried Marta (a Process Worker) in the early 1970s. Cliff and Marta settled at Werribee where Cliff was a Foreman. Cliff died in 2019.
