During WW2, William Henry Fletcher served part time in the 19th (VIC) Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps (VDC) between March 1942 and July 1943, and from July 1943 until October 1945 he served full time with the Royal Australian Navy Volunteer Reserve (Coast Patrol).
