Arnold Alfred Bruce was born in Fremantle on 7th September 1926 , second son and third child of Henry and Martha Bruce .

The family home was 429 Newcastle St West Perth.During the years of the great Depression his father had stable employment. Living also at 429 Newcastle St were his older brother George , younger brothers Roy and Brian and younger sister Elaine who died aged 13 months in 1939. His parents provided a home for 6 years also for a family of three who were destitute.

At the time of Arnold enlisting in Australian Navy on 27th June 1944 and training on HMAS Cerberus  his brother George and father Henry were both serving in Australian Army .

He married Beryl Gould Clarke at Leederville West Australia on 20th December 1947 . They had two children Barry Charles Bruce and Lesley Louise Bruce . The family lived at 5 Mc Clure St ,Safety Bay West Australia .

Arnold travelled to attend many reunions of those who served on Corvettes .

His civilian occupation was a builder .

His retirement years were spent living in a retirement village at 39 Oakleigh Road Erskine West Australia.
